Micah Lowe: Rooted in Faith, Led by Purpose

Faith & Motivation
1. What led you to your career at Fannie Mae? How did your faith shape that decision?

I knew I wanted to work in financial services, but what really drew me to Fannie Mae was its mission. Fannie Mae plays a meaningful role in supporting access to affordable housing and the stability of the housing market, and that purpose mattered to me. My faith pushed me to look beyond just a job title or salary and instead ask how my work could contribute to something bigger.

2. What has God been teaching you through this experience so far?

God has been teaching me patience, humility, and trust. Coming from life as a student-athlete, I was used to being constantly busy and feeling like every hour of the day had to be maximized. Now, I’m learning to be okay with seasons that are quieter and less rushed, to trust that productivity isn’t always measured by how busy I am, and that God is still working even when life feels slower.

3. How did your faith affect your time at William & Mary? Academically, socially, athletically?

My faith was both tested and strengthened at William & Mary. Many of the Christian beliefs and values I had grown up with were challenged in the classroom, and I was surrounded by a very secular environment that I couldn’t really step away from. While that was difficult at times, it forced me to think deeply about what I believed and why. My faith became something I actively owned rather than something I simply inherited.

    4. What was it like being a Christian and a student athlete?

It was very challenging. My freshman year, I was at the top of my athletic career, winning events and contributing significant points to the team. Midway through my sophomore season, however, I developed back problems that severely limited my ability to train and eventually compete. Within a year, I went from winning meets to not racing at all. That season forced me to confront where my identity truly came from. Through it all, God taught me that my worth wasn’t defined by my performance, and I tried to lead by example even when I wasn’t competing.

    FCS Connection
    5. How did your time at Faith Christian School prepare or inspire you for the path you’re on today?

Faith Christian School taught me how to ask questions, think critically, and be intellectually curious. It encouraged me to pursue excellence and to do my absolute best in everything I took on—academically, athletically, and spiritually. That mindset has stayed with me through college and into my career.

    6. Are there particular teachers, experiences, or lessons from your FCS years that you carry with you now?

I learned a lot at FCS about leadership, especially the idea that leadership is about serving others before yourself. That lesson has shaped how I approach teamwork, responsibility, and relationships, both in school and now in the workplace.

    Personal Story
    7. What has been the most rewarding part of this journey so far?

The most rewarding part has been being able to look back and recognize what God was teaching me at each stage of life. Though there were moments that felt difficult or confusing at the time, I can now see how those experiences were preparing me for what came next.

    8. What has been one of the biggest challenges, and how have you seen God at work in the midst of it?

One of the biggest challenges has been navigating uncertainty, especially now, as I continue figuring out what I want long-term in my career. God has used this season to remind me that it’s okay not to have everything figured out right away, and that growth often happens in the waiting.

    9. You are a newlywed (congratulations!!); how has God played a role in your relationship?

God has been central to our relationship from the very beginning. He has shaped our shared values, guided our decisions, and taught us how to rely on Him together. Marriage has been a daily lesson in grace, communication, and trusting God as we build our lives side by side.

    Community & Support
    10. What encouragement/advice would you give to students who are planning for life after FCS graduation (college, career, etc.)?

Trust God with your plans, but be willing to adapt when His plans look different than yours. Focus on building strong character, work hard, and don’t underestimate the value of faith, discipline, and community. God will open doors in His timing.

    11. How can we best pray for you?

Please pray for continued trust in God’s timing for both my career and my wife’s, as well as wisdom around where to live and future family planning.

    Looking Ahead
    12. What are your hopes and prayers for this new phase of life?

I hope to truly enjoy the gifts God has given me in this season of life, to grow in gratitude, and to find a strong, faith-centered community as we move forward.
