Project Faith FAQ

Not sure where to start? Curious about fundraising, timelines, or what Project Faith Day looks like? We've got answers to help you feel fully ready and excited for the journey ahead.

  • What is Project Faith?

Project Faith is a powerful day of service where our entire school community—students, faculty, staff, and parent volunteers—partners with local organizations to make a meaningful impact. Alongside serving, Project Faith also supports the Faith Fund, helping strengthen the programs and mission of Faith Christian School. Discover how this annual event cultivates servant leadership, strengthens community ties, and lives out our mission in action.

Fundraising and Service - Project Faith gives you the opportunity to be part of something meaningful — serving others in our community while also helping strengthen Faith Christian School through support for the Faith Fund. When you reach out to people who care about you — grandparents, family friends, neighbors, mentors, and others — you’re inviting them to join a mission built on service, faith, and purpose.

Sending letters and messages is a powerful way to share what you’ll be doing on Project Faith Day and why it matters. You’re helping others come alongside you as you live out the mission of Faith Christian School: to have a mind for truth, a heart for Christ, and a will to serve.

This year, our goal is 100% participation. When every student takes part in outreach, excitement grows, support increases, and Project Faith becomes a shared experience strengthened by the full involvement of our school community.

Corporate Sponsors – Businesses or individuals choose to sponsor Project Faith.  The logo or name of the business is printed on the back of the Project Faith T-shirt and is listed on our website, Social Media page, Project Faith Emails, and on the Project Faith brochure for the following year.

If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a corporate sponsor, contact Amy Milberger at amilberger@fcsca.com or 540-769-9630.

We host a contest for students to submit design ideas for the T-shirt. One design is chosen by the committee for each division: one design for the Lower School and one for the Middle and Upper School.

  • When is Project Faith?

This year it is April 24.  Project Faith is always the last Friday in April. A rain date, if needed, is the following Monday.

  • Who attends Project Faith?

All students, JK-12, teachers, administrators, and alumni work together that day to complete a list of projects.

    Can younger siblings attend?

No.  Due to the nature of the day, we ask you not to bring younger siblings.

    Assumption of Risk Form
Everyone attending Project Faith needs a signed Assumption of Risk form.

Please complete one form for your family. Print the full parents’ name on the first line, and list all your children at Faith Christian School on the next line.

At the bottom, sign the first line.  Parents who are working at Project Faith should also sign as “Adult Participants.” There are two lines, so each parent may sign. Please print the parent names in the last space. Copies were sent home with the students, one per family. You can also access that form here. Click here to download the form.

  • Where are we serving this year?

    To come!

  • What will volunteers be doing that day?

Plans are currently being worked out by a committee of volunteer parents.  There are a multitude of projects, including painting, staining, cleaning, repairs, and landscaping. Your project managers will communicate more specifics on the work for your child’s team in the next few weeks.  You can check back here for more details as we get closer to April 24.

  • What should volunteers wear?

Project Faith T-shirts are provided to every volunteer.  Please be sure to order a shirt for your children and yourself here PF T-Shirt Order Form

Important - Ordering a T-shirt lets us know you are coming. Knowing the number of adult volunteers assists the volunteer Project Managers in planning efficiently for the day.  When you order, select the grade with which you plan to work.

Is Youth Medium the smallest size

Yes, it is.  In order to fit all our corporate sponsors on the back, we don’t offer a youth small.

You should plan to dress in old or worn clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or paint or stain on. Wear closed-toed, sturdy footwear and socks, and long pants.

Check the weather for the day; wear warm clothes under your Project Faith T-shirt if it is going to be cold. You may need a light jacket or a sweatshirt at the start of the day. Wear sunscreen and bug spray if the weather is going to be warm.

  • What should volunteers bring?

A complete list will be provided by team leaders as we get closer to the date, but the following is a partial list:

    - A refillable water bottle

    - A hearty snack

    - Work gloves

    - Paint brush

The Project Managers will communicate more specific items to bring. Some larger tool items may be requested, such as rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows.

  • How will volunteers get their items back?

Clearly label everything with your name.

  • What is a Handy Helper?

Handy Helpers are parents who have specific skills in carpentry, painting, plumbing, electricity, or the use of power tools, and wish to really get into a project that day or possibly prior to the day.  Project Faith has been able to complete more complex projects for organizations with the work of our Handy Helpers

If you volunteer to be a Handy Helper, you likely will not be working with your child, but on a specific project. If this appeals to you, please indicate it on your T-shirt form and let your Project Manager know your specific skill set.

  • How do students get to the site from Faith Christian School?

Carpools are arranged by grade or division.  You will be contacted if you are driving.  Students are placed in cars just as for a class trip. Due to limited parking, adults may also be assigned to a car as a passenger.

  • Can volunteers drive their child(ren) directly to the site?

No. Students are required to begin the day at school. Students will be dismissed to carpools after attendance is taken.

  • What is the Celebration?

Following our work day, we celebrate! Once the work for your team is completed, students and parents are dismissed to the Celebration to enjoy the spirit of the day.  Typically, we have had a bounce house, inflatable game, ice cream, popcorn, and cotton candy.  Students and parents have the opportunity to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

Students are dismissed from the Celebration by checking out with their teacher.

Everyone is dismissed from the site that day—there are no Faith Zone or Study Tables, and no children will be transported back to the school.

  • What are the directions to the site?

Check back soon! Cell service may be spotty depending on the site, so save these directions. You may not be able to access GPS that day.
